..... a memorial to ..... Robert (Bob) Millican ..... 1945 -
2001 .....
Bob was born an Aries on 30th March 1945 and
died of emphysema at 4.30pm Monday 2nd July 2001 in Sydney
Robert
Millican started Aromatic&
Herbal Oils in 1975 and was an Australian
pioneer in aromatherapy, providing quality essential oils to his
many friends and customers who regularly sought his advice at Paddington
and Paddy's Markets in Sydney, Australia. The funeral
was a quite family affair. His friends from UNSW and mates from
Sydney Radio Taxis, held a wake for Bob at The Regent Hotel, Kensington,
the local watering hole from Uni days.
Bob
meet Pantipa Anivan from Thailand at Paddinton Markets. Bob selling
essential oils and Pantipa with her jewelry stall. Bob fell ill
with genetic emphysema and Pantipa gave up her own stall to help
Bob carry on the herbal and essential oil business. Bob showed determination
and resilience far beyond what was expected of him by his friends
and family, not to mention the doctors, in continuing to turn up
at the markets to maintain normal life style for as long as he could
manage.

Requiem for Bob Millican
(nil illegitimus carborundrum)
An early death has shocked his
mates,
We'll miss his reasoned thought.
A gentle manner predicates
This man whose wisdom sought.
The newcomers
may not recall
His stature, overlooked
Amongst the Bazaar free-for-all,
Yet none who knew him mocked.
A dinosaur? More
dragon like!
Good Bob, essential oil,
An Elder of this special tribe
To Paddington was loyal.
So let us not
praise powerful men,
With testaments in towers.
Far worthier was Bob, our friend,
Sold essences of flowers.
